Provides information regarding ethical and legal issues in the field of chemical dependency counseling. Topics include values and helping relationships, client's rights and counselor responsiblities. PREREQ: Admission to Health and Nutrition Science or permission of instructor.H E 3314 Group Skills for Addiction Counselors: 3 credits. Introduces students to group theory and practice as a treatment modality in counseling clients with chemical dependency issues. H E 234 Blood Borne Illness 1 credit. Provides a basic understanding of blood borne pathogens/infectious diseases within an addictions framework. Promotes competency and ethical responsibility in assessing client needs in regard to blood borne pathogens/infectious diseases.
