GRADUATE STUDENT
APPLICATION FOR NON-RESIDENT TUITION WAIVER
Idaho State University
The Graduate School has a very limited number of Non-Resident Tuition Waivers (NRTW) to
award to students WHO ARE NOT RESIDENTS OF IDAHO. (If you are an Idaho Resident, you do not need to complete this form. Please contact the ISU Admissions Office if you have questions regarding Idaho Residency.) These waivers are awarded competitively on
the basis of scholarship and academic performance.
ISU has a Reciprocal Agreement with the State of Utah for awarding a specific number of NRTWs to residents of Utah. If you are a Utah resident and would like to apply for a Non-Resident Tuition Waiver under the Utah Reciprocal Agreement, please complete this Application Form.

OTHER TERMS OF APPLICATION:
Application Deadlines:
May 1st for Fall Semester
December 1st for Spring Semester
Students MUST reapply for Non-Resident Tuition Waivers every year
Late applications will not be considered
* |
Students who are not admitted with Classified status on deadline date are not eligible to receive a Non-Resident Tuition Waiver |
* |
Students who have Incomplete (I) grades on deadline date are not eligible to receive a Non-Resident Tuition Waiver |
* |
Students who have grades of C+ or below on deadline date are not eligible to receive a Non-Resident Tuition Waiver |
* |
Students who have a GPA below 3.0 on deadline date are not eligible to receive a Non-Resident Tuition Waiver |
* |
Because students are eligible to re-apply for an NRTW (8 semesters maximum), provided a 3.0 overall GPA is maintained, awards are not made until final grades from the current semester have been posted (typically, final decisions are made in mid-July for Fall Enrollment; mid-February for Spring Enrollment). |
* |
Waivers are awarded based on students' GRE scores and GPA. |
* |
Students must be fully admitted (Classified Admission Status) degree-seeking students in order to be considered for an NRTW. |
* |
There are a very limited number of waivers (40 in Technical Fields; 10 in Non-Technical Fields). Many qualified applicants will not receive a waiver due to the limited number of waivers available. |
* |
Time accrued while receiving a Non-Resident Tuition Waiver will not contribute toward the length of time required for Idaho Residency status. |
* |
The Art and Pre-Architecture Department no longer requires the GRE for admission. HOWEVER, GRE scores are used to calculate eligibility for NRTW awards. Students who do not provide GRE scores will not be eligible to receive Non-Resident Tuition Waivers. |
* |
Recipients of NRTWs will be notified as soon as possible following determination of awards. |
