Program Outreach and Partnerships
Over 10 articles on GK-12 activities were published in the Idaho State Journal this past year, along with several TV spots on local stations.

Six local businesses and government agencies were significant partners of ISU's GK-12 program during the 2007 - 2008 year, volunteering countless hours and providing much expertise to enhance the activities in GK-12 classrooms:
City of Pocatello
Pocatello Zoo
Idaho Museum of Natural History
Idaho National Laboratory
AMIs/ON Semiconductor
Simplot
Recent publications of science activities developed during a GK-12 Partnership:
Ray, A. M. and P. M. Beardsley. 2008. Using aquatic plants to study photosynthesis in the classroom. Science Activities 45:13-22.

Briggs, Brandon; Terri Mitton, Tim Magnuson, and Rosemary Smith. 2008. Teaching cellular respiration and alternate energy sources with a laboratory exercise developed by a scientist-teacher partnership. American Biology Teacher, available soon online!.

Transitions

Dr. Larry Stout, a co-PI on the GK-12 grant, has accepted a new position with the Army Defense in Maryland. We wish him the best and will miss his engineering and partnership-building expertise.

Hannah Sanger, the GK-12 Project Coordinator, will leave her position in June. She played a major role in the many successes of the project. We will miss her ability to keep all the participants on track. A search for her replacement has begun -- please consider referring qualified applicants to the position (www.isu.edu/humanr).
