Biographies
Rafael Coicue is the human rights coordinator for ACIN (Association of Indigenous Councils in Northern Cauca). In October 2008, Coicue was interviewed on CNN regarding a massacre in his region of La Maria, Cauca. The international coverage his testimony received forced the Colombian government to participate in a public hearing and debate held by the indigenous councils. Despite the violence that accompanies his work, Coicue continues to educate audiences on the negative effects of neo-liberal trade models on indigenous communities.
Diego Benitez is a Witness for Peace International Team Member in Colombia. Born and raised in New York City, his parents are originally from Colombia and migrated to New York in the early seventies.
