Occupational Therapy Program
Graduation Requirements
Students receiving the MOT degree must satisfactorily complete all courses in the curriculum with a minimum of 3.0 GPA, prepare and present a professional project or case study, satisfactorily complete all Level I and Level II Fieldwork, and pass both oral and written comprehensive examinations. Once the student has completed the degree requirements, they are eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Examination. After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, most states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.
Please note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination and/or attain state licensure.
Students are required to complete Level II Fieldwork within 12 months of completing the academic component of the program. Fieldwork sites are located throughout the state of Idaho and the United States. Due to the limited number of fieldwork sites in Pocatello, students should anticipate the financial impact of traveling and living out of town for the majority of their fieldwork.
