Incoming 2015-2016 graduate students at orientation
Jessica Leubbers, accepted the position of full-time instructor in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Oregon Institute of Technology. Jessica will begin this faculty position on September 14th.
Jana Pierce, received a $10,000 grant from Care Oregon Community Benefits Grant Program for the Children's Dental Clinic of Jackson County. This grant will be used for sterilization and handpiece upgrade equipment for the clinic. Jana notes that she gained grant writing skills through the mentorship she received in the MSDH Program.
Kelly Schroeder received the ADHA Institute for Oral Health 2015-16 Rosie Wall Community Grant in the amount of $1177.00 to be used for her community practicum project, "Oral Health Education Program."
Karen Portillo and Rachelle Williams received notice that they will be awarded $5692.25 from the Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Idaho to purchase additional Diagnodent tips and an Iso-Dry system for their community projects. We know that the children of Pocatello will benefit from Karen and Rachelle's grant writing efforts. Kudos!!

Two MSDH students have been selected to serve as representatives for the State Educator Network of the American Dental Hygienists' Association. Carri Shamburger will represent Alaska and Colleen Stephenson will represent Idaho.
Christine Rogers' manuscript won the 2014 ADHA/Sigma Phi Alpha Journalism award. Co-authors of this paper included Drs. Tara Johnson and JoAnn Gurenlian.
Christine Rogers has received the ADHA/Sigma Phi Alpha Journalism Award for her thesis manuscript. This award is offered to one undergraduate and one graduate level student. Christine's manuscript will be published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene and she will receive a cash award of $1000. This is the first time that one of our students has received this prestigious award. We are very proud of you, Christine!
