This course provides comprehensive didactic and clinical experience necessary to become knowledgeable and leading to competency in performing techniques of field and nerve block anesthesia. The course will include individualized didactic instruction and clinical experience. Due to pre-course study requirements, 36 continuing education units are offered for this course. The didactic portion of the course will present background knowledge in pain/nerve conduction, head and neck anatomy, pharmacology, of local anesthetics and vasoconstrictors, prevention and management of anesthetic complications, selection of anesthetic solutions, and techniques of administration.
