Groups for Spring 2015
The ISU Counseling and Testing Service offer a variety of weekly groups in order to meet the various needs of the diverse students we serve. Groups are a powerful way to bring about meaningful change in the interpersonal, emotional, or personal challenges we face. We encourage students to utilize these services as they work toward overcoming difficulties and improving their lives. Interpersonal groups are an effective way to gain support from other individuals dealing with a variety of personal concerns. It is an opportunity to address boundaries, emotional intimacy, increase self-awareness, and practice new behaviors in a safe, confidential environment. The Friday group will be specific to individual with intersecting religious and sexual identities.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
This group focuses on mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation skills. Individuals who have difficulty managing intense emotions, stressful life events, problematic relationships, or act impulsively may benefit from learning DBT skills. The Spring 2015 will focus on emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
Wednesdays 3:00 - 4:30
This group is open to students, staff, faculty, and community members to join together for mindfulness meditation. Participants will guided through a 20 minute meditation and a brief discussion. No experience with meditation necessary to attend, and no need to commit to the entire series.

This group will focus on learning skills for managing symptoms of anxiety. The group will meet weekly for four weeks each month.
Mondays 3:00 - 4:30p.m.
Couple's Skill Building Workshop
Couple's Skill Building is an 8 week workshop where participants will have a chance to learn and practice skills that have been proven highly successful in helping people manage relationships and stress related to daily life. This is not couples' counseling however you will have the opportunity to develop insights and skills that can improve the overall quality of your relationships. Seating is limited so if you are interested call now to reserve your seats.
