Remembering a Friend

Brenda Malepeai, longtime speech-language-
pathology colleague and friend to many, passed away on
March 31, 2009. Brenda served Idaho State University,
the Idaho Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA),
the SLP profession, and the state of Idaho well with her
clinical expertise, general knowledge, experience, and
strong desire to help and connect with others. Brenda
received the Honors of ISHA, was Board-certified in
fluency disorders, and served as ISU clinic director
for 20 years. She also was a primary provider for
the Southeastern Idaho Cleft Palate Team, started the
Southeast Idaho chapter of the National Stuttering
Association, directed the ISU Interdisciplinary Evaluation
Team, was a key player in addressing numerous issues
facing Idaho SLPs, and was a giving mentor to all.
