Idaho State University's 5th Annual Practical Bioinformatics Workshop
October 15-18, 2009
Aura Soma Lava Conference Center, Lava Hot Springs, ID
"From Genome to Phenotype" is the topic of ISU's 5th Annual Practical Bioinformatics Workshop, to be held October 15-18, 2009 at the Aura Soma Conference Center in Lava Hot Springs, ID. The Bioinformatics Workshop focuses on emerging applications and approaches for complex, data intensive analyses. Join regional biologists in exploring perturbations of gene interaction networks involved in complex phenotypes, the connections of genomes to disease phenotypes and a special emphasis on neurological disorders. This year's Symposium is held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Snake River Association of Neuroscience (SRAN).
The Symposium will include talks by national & regional researchers using bioinformatics approaches to solve data-intensive problems. Each talk will be accompanied by opportunities for collaboration-building discussions. A poster session will provide an opportunity for researchers and grad students to highlight emerging research.
The Training Workshops will build expertise in commonly used bioinformatics methods for molecular evolution and phylogenetics involving genome-scale analyses (likelihood, Bayesian approaches, detecting adaptive evolution, etc). Workshops will be led by experienced researchers and include hands-on experience.
The Breakout Sessions will be organized but informal round-table discussions on bioinformatics research and education. This year we'll emphasize integrating bioinformatics into the biology core curriculum and creating research opportunities for undergrads.
The Symposium on Evolutionary Bioinformatics will be held October 15—18, 2009 at the Aura Soma Conference Center in Lava Hot Springs, ID. The facility includes access to Lava's world-class hot springs and great fishing and resort opportunities. Space is limited to 40 participants — register early!
