To get and keep a job, you typically need a set of marketable skills. While these skills may get your foot in the door, your people skills are what keep most doors open. Your work ethic, your attitude, your communication skills, and a host of other personal attributes are the soft skills that are crucial for career success. This workshop will help you to identify which of these soft skills you already possess and which you may want to further develop in order to optimize your future employment.

Math? Who needs it?

If you have ever sat in a math class and thought "This is so lame! I can't imagine how I'm ever going to use this" then this might be the perfect workshop for you! You'll hear about two very different career paths, nursing and electronics, and about the variety of ways that both occupations use math on a daily basis. Math can be a lot of fun when there's a good reason to learn it and use it!

Introduction to Chevron and the Oil and Gas Industry

There are many amazing careers to be had with the Chevron Company and in the oil and gas industry. Chevron strongly encourages women to work for their company, recruiting women from universities nationwide. They have hired a number of female graduates from the College of Technology ESTEC programs at ISU, women who have gone on to have a very successful career in the oil and gas industry. The presenters of this workshop are coming all the way from Texas to speak today. You'll hear about the opportunities within their company as well as listen to one woman talk about her experience working at Chevron and in this non-traditional STEM occupation.
