Keynote Speaker - Shannon Larson

Shannon Larson, a forensic scientist with the Idaho State Police R5 Forensic Laboratory, has always had an inquiring and analytical mind. From a very young age she wondered “why this, why that, and then what?” That curiosity persists today and is an asset to her as she works in and manages our local forensic laboratory.

Shannon started her career as an EMT, and for 11 years she found herself questioning everything at accident scenes. Eventually she went to work as a deputy county coroner in Lincoln County, Wyoming. It was while working there that she discovered for certain what she wanted to do! A single mother of three daughters, she moved her family to Pocatello where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Idaho State University. As part of her education she completed an internship with the Idaho State Police Forensic Lab and knew that was where she belonged. She has been with the forensic laboratory since she graduated in 2002 and is very happy and successful in her work.
