Cathy Riddle Keynote speaker hard at work!

The Idaho State University Center for New Directions is presenting the 15th annual Women and Work Conference on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in the Pond Student Union Building.

Each year over 225 girls in grades 9 through 12 from regional high schools, ISU students, and community members attend the Conference where they learn about occupations in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. These careers can provide a livable income, employment benefits, and a career ladder that can move women from a minimum wage job into a successful career they can enjoy.

This year's keynote speaker is Billie Johnson who is a a physical design engineer at ON Semiconductor.

Participants will attend workshops on a variety of topics, including, "Nuclear Forensics: The Science of Discovery" "Nursing: It's More Than a Cute Hat," "The Egg Drop," and "GPS Treasure Hunt." The girls will also roll up their sleeves during hands-on career exploration sessions as they tour ISU programs. A dynamic finale during each Conference is the Career Showcase presenting women in their occupational attire.

Individuals may contact the Center for New Directions at 282-2454 for information.
