Hands-On Career Exploration
Roll up your sleeves, because this experience is all hands-on! Instructors, professionals, and current ISU College of Technology students in various nontraditional occupations will demonstrate their trade by offering hands-on experiences. What makes an engine work? How do you properly use a hammer? These and many other questions will be answered in this exciting and interactive kick-off to the conference!
Workshops
Virtues for Success – Learn the five strategies to help transform your ability for success in school and in your career! Virtues are alive and well in all of us – they merely need to be awakened.
Women in Science Panel – Get insider information. Learn what it is like to work as a scientist from a panel of women who will describe how they got started in science and what they do in their current work.
Got Money? – If money doesn’t grow on trees, where does it come from? How can you turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse? Is money really the root of all evil? These and other financial mysteries will all be revealed in this workshop.
Journals: A creative place to express yourself. Keeping a journal is truly a journey. Jump-start that journey by creating the book that will hold the meaningful thoughts, emotions, moods and stories of your life.
Mapping the Maze – The college application process can be daunting but this workshop will guide you through the steps you need to get into college. Learn how to apply to get into college and for financial aid, how to find scholarships, student employment and more.
Shameless Self-Promotion – Ever wonder why some women get such good jobs and advance in the careers? Come learn how to define and achieve your goals by finding out what you are worth and learning how to get the most money for your time.
