Spirit Squad Tryouts
General Information
- A $10.00 tryout fee will be collected upon registration
- You need to already be accepted into ISU at the time of Tryouts
- Tryouts and open gyms are closed to spectators. Score sheets may only be viewed by judges and ISU coaching staff.
- If you are not yet 18 years of age you will need a parent or legal guardian to sign a tryout and open gym liability waiver before you will eligible to participate.
- Squad members must be full-time ISU students and complete 24 credits within one academic year and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
- Squad members need to be prepared to dedicate approximately 20 hours a week to practice, workouts, games, and public appearances.
- Squad members must be able to report for camp around the first part of August.
- Squad members will need to purchase team gear for around $350 in May. Members may be asked to pay for other costs incurred during the year such as but not limited to; team clothing and food money.
- Squad members will be expected to equally participate in fund raising throughout the year.
- Squad members must be able to attend mandatory events that may take place on Sunday.
Dance
April 21st from 9:00am-6:00pm in room 208 of Reed Gym.
Squad size is approximately
16 dancers.
The first cut will be based primarily on technical skills and a jazz routine that will be taught. Following the first cut, remaining dancers will be taught a funky pom routine and interviews will be conducted.

Cheer
April 28th from 9:00am-6:00pm in gym 101 of Reed Gym.
Open gyms will be held in the tennis center of Reed Gym on April 26th from 7:00-9:00pm and April 27th from 4:00-6:00pm
Squad size is approximately
16 members (maximum of 4 males for small-coed)
The first cut will be based primarily on skills. Following the first cut, remaining cheerleaders will be taught a cheer and a dance, and interviews will be conducted.
