Intramural Table Tennis
Tournament Format:
The Intramural Table Tennis tournament will be held on January
17, starting at 6 PM, in the Pond Student Union. Each participant
will play 3 round robin games to determine seeding, before
they enter a single-elimination tournament.
What does it cost?
The cost for entering the Intramural Table Tennis tournament
is $5.00 per participant.
What are the rules?
United States Table Tennis Association rules will govern all
play except where modified by the Intramural rules.
A. All players must furnish their
own equipment or check out paddles from the Pond Student Union.
B. The match will begin with a "PING"
for the serve, which determines who will elect to serve or
receive first.
C. Players change ends after every game and
alternate service every 5 serves.
D. The service must bounce on both sides
of the net; subsequent hits, however, must contact only the
receiver's side of the net.
E. A good service that touches the net is
termed a NET service and is replayed. If there is any external
influence on the game or if the ball is served before the
receiver is ready, and the receiver makes no attempt to hit
the ball, it is termed a NET and the point must be replayed.
F. A ball that hits the edge of the table
is good. A ball clearly hitting the side of the table is not
good.
G. Balls going off the table must be allowed
to strike the floor for them to be ruled OFF. If you play
a ball that is going off the table, play continues.
H. Each match shall consist of a best two
out of three games, with each game consisting of 15 points.
What you'll win:
The Men's and Women's Champions will each receive the sought after Intramural Championship t-shirt. In addition, each champion will receive an all-expenses paid trip to CORVALLIS, OR for the A.C.U.I. National Championships!
