Institute of Emergency Management

Located at Idaho State University-Boise, the Institute of Emergency Management (IEM) was approved by the Idaho State Board of Education in July 2003. The purpose of the IEM is to offer workshops, courses, certificates, and in the future, degrees, to meet the professional and career development needs of Idahoans employed in or planning a career in Emergency Management.

At the national level, The Office for Domestic Preparedness is providing financial assistance directly to each of the nation's states and territories through the FY2003 and FY2004 ODP Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP). This continued financial assistance is being provided to enhance the capability of state and local agencies to prevent and respond to incidents of terrorism involving the use of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) weapons.

The State Administrative Agency for these grants is the Idaho the Bureau of Homeland Security (formerly the Bureaus of Disaster Services and Hazardous Materials) and has the responsibility to carry out the mission of The Department of Homeland Security.

The Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security has entrusted the Institute of Emergency Management at Idaho State University to deliver education training to meet the needs of first responders throughout Idaho.
