ISU Bengal Marching Band
Q. Do you have to be a music major?
A. No, everyone is welcome to join, even if you don't have any experience.
Q. When and where does the Bengal Marching
Band meet?
A. The Bengal Marching Band meets every Tuesday, Thursday, 12:10 PM to 1:50 PM
and on game-day Saturdays. Our rehearsals take place in the Holt Arena, where it
never rains, snows, or hails.
Q. What are the requirements to be in the band?
A. A short audition on your instrument, which may include a couple of scales and
a short piece of your choice. If you don't play an instrument, you are welcome
to join our color guard.
Q. Do you have to know how to march?
A. No, marching is very easy to learn, so there is nothing to be afraid of.
Q. When is band camp?
A. Band camp usually takes place the week before the fall semester starts.
Q. Can I still be in band if I cannot make it to band camp?
A. Band camp is a requirement, but under certain circumstances exceptions can be
made.
Q. How much does it cost to participate in the Marching Band?
A. The only cost incurred by students is for gloves, black socks, black pep band
shirt and marching shoes. Everything else is provided by the band.
Q. I won't be here in the spring. Can I still participate?
A. You bet! Love to have you!
Q. What are the perks of being in the Bengal Marching Band?
A. First we receive scholarship money, opportunities to travel with the sports
teams, two free tickets to each football game, free T-shirts, and bummers. We
also get to march in the homecoming parade, and meet the president of ISU. Most
importantly we form great friendships that will last a lifetime.
