Future Scholars of Idaho event on April 30

Where: L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center
This event informs High School Juniors in the area about the opportunities available at ISU. The formal program consists of a welcome message and honoring future scholars by President Vailas. Followed by a keynote address by Dr. Dave Adler and after which Dr. Cynthia Hill will discuss the opportunities available at ISU.

Theatre/Dance ISU will present the play "Picasso at the Lapin Agile"

Date: April 10-11, April 16-18

Where: L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center
This production features student designers, original costumes and set design by the talented Theatre/Dance ISU faculty, staff and students. This play was written by Steve Martin. It explores the meaning of genius through the characters of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso before they were famous.

ISU to host CEDA Nationals, largest collegiate championship debate tournament

Date: March 19 - 24
Idaho State University has been selected to host the 2009 Cross Examination Debate Association Nationals, the largest collegiate championship debate tournament in the country. In 2006 the ISU Rupp Debate Society finished third at the CEDA Nationals behind Dartmouth and Harvard Universities.

ISU Health Fair 2009 will run March 19-20 in Pond Student Union

The Idaho State University Health Fair 2009 will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 19 and 20. The annual Health Fair is sponsored by the Kasiska College of Health Professions and will be in the ISU Pond Student Union Ballroom. The Health Fair is a vital community event and there are always dozens of interesting learning centers to help you understand all aspects of your health.

The daylong festival culminates in a 7 p.m. public performance by some 225 choristers in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Sylvio Mannel selected to receive the M.F. Burrill award from the American Association of Geographers for 2009

SylvioMannel Sylvio Mannel, assistant professor of GIS training and research, has been selected to receive the M.F. Burrill award from the American Association of Geographers for 2009. The Burrill Award recognizes "work of exceptional merit and quality that lies at or near the intersection of basic research in geography on the one hand, and practical applications or policy implications on the other." For Sylvio, the award "is bestowed in recognition of your work using geography, geoscience, and geographic technologies in your research and educational collaborations with the Lakota Native American community."

Dr. Sean K. Anderson to be the new Director of the International Studies Program

SeanAnderson Dr. Sean K. "Andy" Anderson, Department of Political Science, has been selected to become the new Director of the International Studies Program beginning next academic year. Dr. Anderson has an excellent background in comparative politics and international relations, as well as other strengths in international programs. Dr. Anderson is replacing Dr. Donna Lybecker, who is stepping down as Director.

ISU Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will perform their final program of the semester

Where: Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the Stephens Performing Arts Center.
The Wind Ensemble is directed by Patrick Brooks, Idaho State University director of bands, and Monte Grise, associate director of bands, directs the Concert Band.
