About the Department
ISU Metal Smithing The primary aim of the art program is to develop the aesthetic awareness and technical capability of the individual student in the visual arts. The art department is among the largest at Idaho State University. It offers a wide range of degree options and highlights some important areas of art development. The curriculum focuses on topics such as painting, drawing, metal work, printmaking, sculpture, weaving, ceramics, textiles, and papermaking.


ISU Pottery With so many areas of specialty, the art program allows students to focus on their topic of interest. The art major can concentrate in one studio area or you can elect to work in several. The program offers a wide variety of studio and art history courses for university students majoring in other fields. The department provides classes for students who are getting a teaching degree in education. In addition, you can earn a minor in art history or studio.
