Faculty Information
- All faculty members are invited to attend commencement.
- Faculty should be at Holt Arena by 9:30 a.m. on May 5, 2012. Line up in the south hallway in preparation for the faculty processional.
- Commencement regalia is required. Regalia can be ordered through the University Bookstore, (208) 282-3237.
- You are cordially invited to attend President & Dr. Laura Vailas's reception on the Holt Arena turf immediately following commencement.
Commencement Participant Information
All undergraduate students with degree-posting dates of December 2011, May 2012, and August 2012 are invited to participate. Graduate students with degree-posting dates of August 2011, December 2011 and May 2012 are also invited to participate.
Schedule of Events
- March through the Arch: TBA. For more information call (208) 282-4798.
- Commencement Rehearsal: Friday, May 4, 2012 - 3:30 p.m. - Holt Arena.
- Commencement Ceremony: Saturday, May 5, 2012 - 10:00 a.m. - Holt Arena.
- Commencement Reception: Holt Arena, immediately following the commencement ceremony.
Cap, Gown, Hood, and Tassel Information
- All graduates who attend commencement must wear the appropriate regalia.
- Regalia will be available for purchase at the Grad Finale Event dates and times will be announced.
- Students not able to purchase regalia at the Grad Finale Event may purchase it in the University Bookstore or by calling 208-282-3237. Caps and gowns (and hoods for graduate students) are yours to keep.
- Undergraduate students wear the tassel on the right prior to graduation. It is moved to the left when you are instructed to during the commencement ceremony.
- Graduate and doctoral students wear the tassel on the left and do not change its position.
- Specialist degree and Master students wear the hood during the procession.
- Graduate and doctoral students should carry the hood on the left arm.
Processional lineup
- Candidates should be at Holt Arena on May 5, 2012 by 9:00 a.m. to begin the processional lineup.
- Tell officials at the commencement table the name you requested on your diploma. You will then be given a "reader" card.
- As you cross the stage, you will hand your "reader" card to the Institutional Reader who will announce your name.
Parking
- Parking will be available for all graduates and guests on the north side of Holt Arena, located at 15th Street and Memorial Drive.
Guest Seating
- Tickets are not required.
- Guests may be seated on both the north and south sides of Holt Arena.
- Seating will be on a first-come, first seated basis.
Diploma Information
- Those who attend commencement are presented a diploma cover as they cross the stage.
- A final review of requirements must be completed prior to the mailing of official diplomas. Diplomas are mailed approximately two months after the degree-posting date.
- The $20.00 Graduation/Diploma Fee must be paid to prevent a hold on mailing of official transcripts.
- Transcript Order Information: Be sure to designate on your transcript request that you wish the transcript sent after your degree has been posted. You can verify that your degree has been posted by viewing a copy of your unofficial transcript via BengalWeb.
- All diplomas will be mailed to the address indicated on the graduation application.
- Should this address change, contact the graduation staff in The Office of the Registrar at (208) 282-4225 or (208) 282-4874.
Policy Statement
- It is the desire of the administration and the faculty of Idaho State University that the ceremony be conducted with courtesy and respect for each of the graduates.
- Graduates are reminded that alcoholic beverages are not permitted at commencement.
