Process Color Separations

The process color separations show, in detail, the amount of color on each plate in order for an image to attain color.

A 4-color process image is obtained by layering the process colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) on top of each other at different angles. This technique blends the colors together to create the colors of the image.

The cyan, magenta, and yellow plates create the basis for the color, the black enhances the shadow and depth in the image.
