Magnuson Alumni House

The Manuson Alumni House is home to the Office of Alumni Relations. Located on the corner of 7th and Halliday in Pocatello, Idaho, we welcome your company and invite you to tour this landmark in the historic University district.

History

The H.F. Magnuson Alumni House is a 5,000 square foot home located one block from the Pocatello ISU Campus. Built in 1916, this home cost original home owner, John Hood, $16,000 to construct. Hood was a Pocatello merchant whose business operations consisted primarily of the Golden Rule Store chain in Utah and Idaho. The house was officially dedicated as the H.F. Magnuson House on October 15, 1977 to recognize the ISU alumnus and mining executive Harry Magnuson, for his financial support and interest in the ISU Alumni Association and Idaho State University.

As the house is listed on the Idaho Historical Register, every action is made to uphold the integrity of this beautiful structure. Over the years, upgrades and improvements have been a constant for this facility. These improvements make the house's iconic fašade and manicured landscaping a landmark in the University's historic district.
