The Cooperative Wilderness Handicapped Outdoor Group will celebrate its 25th anniversary by taking on the Salmon River this summer. This June the Hogs are planning a 28 day, 431 mile descent of the "River of no return", from its headwaters in Stanley to the confluence of the Salmon and Snake Rivers.

"The trip signifies that we've come full circle," says CW HOG Director David Kriner. "One of our first trips was on the Salmon in 1981. Now we're coming back, but tackling it on a much grander scale. We're training participants with disabilities how to read water and run a boat."

CW HOG has designed special adaptive equipment for the trip, including seats that allow paraplegics to be seat-belted in to provide stability while rowing. The belts are easily releasable for safety.
