Writing Center - Job Opportunities
The Writing Center is no longer hiring consultants for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The Writing Center maintains a staff of 15-20 consultants between our Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses, and our consultants include undergraduate and graduate students from across the disciplines. Most work 6-7 hours per week, although some choose to work fewer hours. Scheduling is based on individual tutor availablility and program needs. Hiring for writing tutor positions is competitive; we usually get many more applications that we have positions available for, especially on our Pocatello campus. Potential writing tutors must have completed English 102 or the equivalent with a B+ or above and be recommended by an ISU faculty member. Other factors that will strengthen an application include:
- B+ or above in PHIL 101 and/or ENGL 301
- Major or minor in the College of Business or the physical, biological, or social sciences, accompanied by grades of B+ or above in that major's writing-intensive coursework.
- transcript showing diversified coursework and high GPA.
