Common questions about the application process

Filling out the application

Question: What if I am currently enrolled in a preference class(es) this spring semester? Can I take credit for them on the application?

Answer: Yes, even though you have not completed the course, list it on the application and state that you are "currently enrolled". If this is the case and you are accepted into the program you will receive a "Conditional Acceptance." Should you not pass the course(s) in question you may forfeit your seat once grades are posted at the end of the Spring semester.


Question: How do I submit my application?

Answer: You can hand deliver your application to Students Services in the College of Technology (Building #48), or mail it in to the following address:

Question: Do I need to submit all of the components of the application (Application, Letters of Recommendation, Observation Hours Documentation forms) together, at the same time?

Answer: It is recommended that you submit all the components together to ensure articles are not lost in the mailing process. You can submit the various components separately, but make sure to follow-up with student services to ensure that correspondence have been received.


Letters of Recommendation:

Question: Is there a specific format that should be used for the Letter of Recommendation?

Answer: Yes, the letter should be submitted in letter form (12 point font, single spaced, maximum length 2 pages) and placed in an envelope with your name on it. The person writing the recommendation should seal the letter of recommendation and sign over the closure. The letter should address your personal attributes that will make you a successful clinician.

Observation hours:

Question: How do I submit proof of my Observation hours?

Answer: Forms used to document Observation hours are located on the PTA homepage under the PTA Application tab. You can hand deliver your application to Students Services in the College of Technology (Building #48), or mail it in to the following address:

Question: What if I applied to the PTA program last year (2013) and have 40 hours of observation from just 1 facility? Do I need to do 20 more hours in a different facility?

Answer: No, this year (2014) as we transition to our new application process we will honor observation hours completed previously. Students who are applying for the first time in 2014 will need to do 20 hours in two different facilities, for a total of 40 hours.
