Idaho State University Students Attend National SkillsUSA Competitions
Idaho State University College of Technology SkillsUSA members recently returned from the 45th Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo. More than 5,000 outstanding career and technical education students, all state contest winners, participated in hands-on skill and leadership competitions. Idaho students participated in 11 contests and took 16 medals overall. Students from the College of Technology received the following awards:
- Matt Sherman 9th, Aviation Maintenance
- Travis Moffat 10th, Job Interview
- Brady Barrerra 10th, Auto Collision Refinishing
- Greg Anderson 5th, Auto Collision Repair
- Bobbie Tipton 18th, Job Skill Demonstration
- Kaitlin McClellan 15th, Prepared Speech
- Bill Martin 19th, Computer Networking
To make it to Nationals, put them into the top 2% of all students to compete in the nation.
SkillsUSA is a national organization providing quality educational experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development, to more than 264,000 high school and college students and professional members, enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations. Representatives of business, industry, labor, and education judged contests in 91 skill and leadership development areas.
