English as a Second Language (ESL)

A FREE service for all community members.

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program at Idaho State University's College of Technology offers free, non-credit English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to adults 16 years of age or older. ESL classes help students speak, read, write, and understand English to communicate more effectively in the community, prepare for higher-level instruction, or enter the workplace. Beginning and advanced ESL classes, including special conversation sections, are offered; a class combining instruction in both ESL and American civics is also available and may be of particular interest to students seeking American citizenship.

Students are enrolled in classes after completing an English assessment test. Day and evening classes are available o the ISU campus as well as several outreach centers throughout southeast Idaho.
