Computer Placement Testing 

Computer Placement Testing is offered in Graveley Hall South, 2nd Floor Testing Center, Room 251. For questions concerning the placement tests, please call (208) 282-4907

For placement in ISU Math, English and Foreign Language classes. Testing is available 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday - Friday on a walk-in basis. Each test takes between 15 and 30 minutes. There is a $5 per test, sitting fee for Math and English. There is no sitting fee for the Foreign Language placement tests.  Photo ID is required!

As a Prometric Test Center some of the over 300 tests now available are the:

Clep

• CLEP - College Level Examination Program. Click here to download the CLEP Sampler.

• Must present two forms of Identification (Driver's License & Student ID)
• $15 sitting fee to be paid in Room 251, Graveley Hall, before scheduling (payable to ISU, no credit cards).
• $72 testing fee to be paid the day of testing (payable to CLEP, credit card/debit card, no cash).
• Receive score at the end of the test.
  

As an official Prometric Testing Center, we are capable of administering any computer based test that is offered through ETS/Prometric. Please contact our office for more information or visit the Educational Testing Service or prometric.com web site.

The Miller Analogies Test is a computer based test and is a test taken by graduate students.  The candidates usually have the option of taking the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), or the GRE (See Prometric-computer based testing above).

Score results are available immediately following the test. The MAT is available Monday-Wednesday at 8:30 am or 1:30 pm. In order to schedule the candidate must pre-pay the $100 sitting fee. This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. The sitting fee may be paid on the second floor, of Graveley Hall, room 251. Payment options include cash or personal check. Walk-in testing is an option; please call the Testing Center to check availability or to set up an appointment (282-2130).

Web and Correspondence Testing

• Web Testing- This service is for any online test (including correspondence) that requires proctoring.
• The proctoring fee is $10.00 per hour for non-ISU exams and free of charge for ISU exams.
• You must CALL to schedule a web test.  You must also know the length of the test in order to schedule.  Call 282-4907 to schedule. 
• Before a test can be scheduled, the course instructor must provide the Testing Center with the testing candidate’s name, passwords and specific test instructions to the following e-mail address proctoredtest@isu.edu. 
• Valid ID is required to test.  Current Bengal Card is considered valid for ISU students.  Current, government issued, photo ID with a signature is required for all other candidates. 

• Paper Based Testing- This service is provided for any paper based test (including correspondence) that requires proctoring.
• IMPORTANT! Please contact the Testing Center for proctor approval and further information at 282-4907.
• The proctoring fee is $10.00 per hour.
  
• You must CALL to schedule a correspondence test.  You must also know the approximate length of the test in order to schedule.  Call 282-4907 to schedule.
  
• Before a test can be scheduled the course instructor must mail the test to the Testing Center.
  
• Valid ID is required to test.  Valid ID is considered current, government issued, with signature and photo.

ACT Center - Computer Based Testing  
 
Idaho State University and ACT of Iowa City have partnered to establish an ACT Center.     

The ISU Testing Center administers the following high stakes computer based certification and licensure tests.

    ASWB      Social Work Licensure Exams (Bachelors, Masters, and Clinical)
    ASE          Automotive Service Excellence
    ADA-RD    American Dietetics Association-Registered Dietetic Exam

    Operating hours for the ISU ACT Center are Thursday and Friday every week as well one Saturday per month based on need.  To register for the test call ACT Scheduling at 800-205-6366.  See directions to the ISU Testing Center at this site or call 208-282-2130.


Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is required for admission to ISU Department of Nursing. An optional study guide is available for purchase by students at the ATI website.  http://www.atitesting.com

Appointments can be made at the ISU Testing Center (282-4907) or Idaho Falls Testing Center (282-7750).  Payment guarantees your seat.  If registering by mail, please send it to the address listed below. Checks should be made out to ISU and include the name, phone #, and test name.  If paying by mail, please call the center in approximately 2-3 days to schedule your appointment.  

Current PHOTO ID with photo and signature is required on the day of test.

Paper Based Testing

The following examinations are offered as paper-pencil tests at Graveley Hall South, 2nd Floor Testing Center, Room 251. To make appointments for these tests, call (208) 282-4907 .

GED
  *The GED consists of five tests: Science, Social Studies, Reading, Math, and Writing. Individual tests are offered at specific dates and times, for a complete schedule contact the GED Testing Center at (208) 282-4907.

You must make an appointment prior to testing. 
*Each exam is given at a specific time during a testing session.

• GED Transcript Request Form
• There is a $5 fee for transcript requests.
  
• The testing fee is $75, plus a one-time fee of $10 for a total of $85 and must be paid prior to scheduling a GED test. 
• The fee can be paid with cash or personal check (make checks payable to ISU). 
• Credit cards cannot be used as a method of payment for the GED testing fee.

• Things to know before you arrive:
• You must:
• Possess valid identification. 
• The only acceptable forms of ID are: driver's license, state ID card, passport, military ID, or Tribal ID card.
• Your ID must be current with your name, signature and photo. 
• Be a resident of Idaho.
• Know your Social Security Number.
• Be at least 16 years of age.
• If you are not 18 years of age you must submit an Age Verification Letter. 
• The Age Verification Letter must indicate the last school you attended and state the Official Withdrawal Date.
• Age Verification Letters may be obtained from the school you last attended, or from the Adult Success Center (208) 282-2468 at Idaho State University.

IDAHO HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY CERTIFICATE (HSE)

An HSE is not the same as a High School Diploma; it is the GED with an American Government course.

An American Government course may be submitted if you have:

• Previously taken an American Government course in high school and received credit for it.
• Taken an American Government course through the Adult Success Center at ISU, 282-2468.
• Passed an American Government exam with at least 70% at a GED test center.

To obtain an HSE Certificate Examinee must submit:

• HSE application with a notarized signature
• Photo copy of official GED transcript
• Verification of American Government course completion
• $10.00 application fee

Information regarding an Idaho HSE:

• HSE is not official until the application, proper documentation, and payment is received.
• An HSE obtained in Idaho is only recognized in the state of Idaho.
• A GED is recognized nationally regardless of the state in which it was received.
• Applications are available in our office or online HSE Certificate Application.

DANTES/DSST

• Test fee is $70 and can be paid with either check or credit card.
  
• The sitting fee is $35 and is payable to ISU. Cash or check (NO credit card) may be used to pay sitting fee.

ACT RESIDUAL
ACT - American College Testing

****All ACT Residual Test Dates are on the following Thursdays at 9 AM; check in time is at 8:45 AM.

1. How to Register and what is the fee?

Pre-registration and payment of a $40 non-refundable fee is due at the time of registration. If registering by mail, please send it to the following address. Checks should be made out to ISU and include the name, phone #, SS# and test date.  Current Photo Identification is required on the day of test.

2. What is the Residual ACT and when is it offered?
The Residual ACT is offered each semester for students who haven't taken the ACT on the national test dates. Residual ACT scores are not transferable to other educational institutions.  To see the test dates, please visit our test schedule.

3. What is the ACT?
The ACT assessment is a standardized exam used for admission purposes. The exam measures skills in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.

National Testing

The Counseling and Testing Center serves as a site for the following routinely administered national exams:

• DHE - Dental Hygiene Exam
• GRE Subject Tests - Specific fields of study for graduate school
• PCAT - Pharmacy College Admission Test
