Incoming Au.D. Candidates

Congratulations on your acceptance to Idaho State University and the start of your ventures as an audiologist! This newsletter is designed to help with some questions you may have about the university, the program, and the surrounding area. When we began here at Idaho State University, there were many questions that we had and did not know who to ask. So this will help you with some of those questions. Good luck! How can I get more involved?

You can become involved with National NAFDA (National Association of Future Doctor’s of Audiology) and the Idaho State chapter of NAFDA.

Where can I find information about graduate assistantships?

Information can be obtained from the Speech and Hearing department and from the financial aid department. Information can also be obtained by searching the ISU website for graduate assistantships. Throughout the months before you begin school, there are usually openings on campus that will be forwarded to you if and when they become available. Generally there are no federal grants for students in graduate school. Howevere, there are a few program-specific grants and scholarships that can be applied for.

Where can I find a job if I don’t get an assistantship?

There are many jobs available in the Pocatello area. Although having a job your first year may not be the first thing you want to do. Some helpful websites are the prospective students site or the Idaho State Journal newspaper.

Where do I get a parking permit and how much do they cost?

Permits can be obtained at the ISU Department of Public Safety office.

How do I become a legal resident of Idaho for tuition purposes?

The application for in-state tuition must be picked up at the Registrars office. They will provide you with more information if necessary. In addition to the application, you must meet the following requirements:
