Welcome to the application information website for programs in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders and Education of the Deaf. We offer undergraduate degrees in communication sciences and disorders with emphasis in either speech/language pathology or audiology,, sign language studies, and educational interpreting. We offer graduate degrees in speech/language pathology (MS), deaf education (MS), and Audiology (AuD).
Campus Programs
We have two campus that offer a wide range of the courses for your degree. The main campus is in Pocatello, Idaho and our other campus is in Meridian, Idaho. Depending on the degree, you may be able to take some or all of your coursework on either campus. For example, the masters degree in speech/language pathology is offered on both campuses. The doctor of audiology degree requires 2 years on the Pocatello campus, and 2 years on the Meridian campus.
On-line Programs
In addition to the traditional campus programs, we offer a completely on-line pre-professional program. This three semester sequence prepares and individuals with a bachelor’s degree in another field to apply for graduate school in Speech Language Pathology. ISU CSED also has a completely On-Line Master’s Degree Program in speech-language pathology. This program prepares the student to apply for and secure the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA CCC) needed in order to practice as a clinician.

The application process is the same for on-campus programs and online programs.
Minimal Competencies
Speech language pathology and audiology are skill based professions that require clinicians to demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions, model clear, consistent speech; and communicate effectively with a variety of clients. Individuals who speak English as a second language and wish to enter the graduate program in speech language pathology or audiology must meet minimum TOEFL scores (click here to see graduate catalog) as outlined in the ISU graduate catalog. Adjustments to either the academic or clinical curriculum shall be evaluated against the best practices and standards of the profession. Some requests for academic and/or clinical accommodations may not be allowed if they conflict with these standards.

- Speech Pathology Admissions requirements:
- Students who wish to enter the 24 month graduate program in Speech Pathology will need the following:
- An undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences, or the appropriate leveling coursework.
- A GPA of 3.0 or better, calculated on the last 60 college credits .
- GRE scores: minimum 1 of 3 scores must fall in the 40th percentile or greater
- Three letters of recommendation
