Discussion regarding Glenn Alford wanting to be on the parking advisory committee even though not on the COPE board. Decided this was okay because he is a COPE member and bylaws don't contradict. Teena will notify Glenn and inform him to update the Board at monthly meetings regarding activity on his committee.

Special Orders:
Nora Gotfredson gave an update regarding the Centennial Extravaganza. Date set for April 27th, Ballroom, PSUB. Invitations will go mostly to local alumni, staff, and faculty. Dress will be for an era of choice. Are currently taking bids for the Djs. Nora will get an estimate of costs for everything and will submit to the board for consideration of funding. Teena will address the Faculty Senate to see if they want to be included.

Dr. Priscilla Reis, Representative of the Affirmative Action Policy Committee, presented a "Proposal to Evaluate the Interpersonal Work Climate Among the Employees of the University" for COPE approval and support. Moved to support the proposal.

Teena discussed the Homecoming float project. COPE members will dress in era costumes. Donna will attend the next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 25th to finalize plans.

Donna will distribute COPE brochures to new members and those that are hired from here on out at the orientation meeting. Can order more brochures through Graphic Arts.

Unfinished Business:
John, Michelle and Teena will work as a subcommittee to update and revise bylaws to be presented to the board. It was suggested to create a form for the professional development funding and clarify how money is dispersed and for what reasons. Also suggested to include email as a way of conducting special mtgs. We will also look at adjusting the number of board member from each of the four areas to be more representative of the total number of members in that division.

New Business:
It was suggested to have one major speaker for professional development rather than several small workshops. Teena will check with Jeannie to see if CEC wants to be involved. Will poll COPE members via email to see the need or interest in certain topics and suggestions for speakers.

John proposed a cholesterol screening being offered on the ISU campus, IF included. John will get information on the cost of the testing to assess if COPE can help with funding.

John reported that First Aid Workshops are offered at the Wellness Center two evenings a week or they are available to come to your dept. Will put this schedule in the COPE newsletter stating that COPE will pay for individuals to take this course. Steven Wright, x3095, is the contact.

Michelle will have the newsletter out by Oct. 31st. Topics included in the newsletter could be the Centennial Extravaganza, CPR and first aid workshops, Professional Development funding information, Homecoming, who received professional leave awards and professional development funding last year, comments from those people regarding their experience, first aid kits are available, ISU trivia and Centennial information, Centennial calendar, new COPE members since..., etc.

It was moved by the board to fund $200 to Teena Rhoads for registration to the "Women's Work Conference" in Washington, D.C. This will be funded through the professional development scholarship.
