Cope Minutes

October 11, 2001

In Attendance: Teena Rhoads, Donna Hillard, Laura McKinlay, Diana Guerrero, Troy Kase, John Batacan

Minutes for September were read and approved as corrected.

Officer's Reports:
Teena reported COPE account at $7092.73 with no expenditures.

Teena reported on the President's staff meeting: may raise student fees with budget cuts, may be other cuts in the future, no graffiti allowed on walls only sidewalks, discussion of retention/layoffs by CEC president, military call up/job stability, ISU is 2nd best funded athletic program, and origination of the Alma Mater song.

Committee Reports:
CSAC- Troy missed meeting

Centennial Committee- Laura is now co-chair with Dedra (CEC). Spoke to Faculty Senate and they decided to join. Dr. Rene Rodriguez will represent faculty. Need to change name from Extravaganza to something else. Teena said a budget needs to be set up by all three entities. Next meeting is Oct. 24th. Date of ball is 4/27/02.

Diversity- Michelle not present to report

Facility Access- no meeting

First Aid Kits- John reported on procedure to order kits/payment. John will order 15-20.

Parking Advisory- Can't use parking pass to park a car for sale on the campus.

Parking Appeals- Will meet soon

Personnel Advisory- Teena will call Ken Prolo

Professional Leave- Donna 2003 term

University Safety- 1) MLK new traffic flow 2) cross walk by Reed Gym tennis courts 3) pay phones by Chemistry building 4) ISU on heightened state of alert 5) no smoking signs in entry ways

Homecoming Float-progress, theme, come to work and eat on Friday night, 6pm

Unfinished Business
Michelle in process of setting meeting to make changes to COPE bylaws.

Donna will create a new scholarship funding form to clarify guidelines.

Professional Development Workshop with CEC. Has had mixed responses. Donna suggested again to have one major speaker. We will email all for topic/speaker suggestions.

First Aid workshops and Cholesterol checks- John will give Michelle a schedule for the newsletter. We will have separate times for CEC/COPE members. Talked about setting up times each semester, will only have to pay $12 per person. Laura motioned to finance the $12 for the cholesterol check. Limit of 50 people. Troy seconded.

Teena will put a schedule together

Board decided that we want a COPE coffee again for COPE discussions. 11:30-1:00. Will decide on date.

Will pay full $12 for COPE employees for cholesterol check.
