New COPE Members Officers

Thank you to everyone who voted for COPE Board members. We welcome Mark Norviel and Lance Erickson to the Board, and we are pleased to have Jay McMillin return for a new term. Our 2007-08 officers are Chair Graham Garner, Vice Chair Connie Guthrie, Secretary Angela Askey and Treasurer Bonnie Frantz. We also thank Shawn Akina for his service as he completes his term, and wish JoAnn Hertz the best as she takes the position of President-elect of Staff Council.

What is the purpose of COPE?

All professional employees at ISU are members of COPE. COPE works for the improvement of personnel management, morale, work environment, and productivity of ISU professional employees.

• To provide leadership to professional employees in the promotion and development of programs, policies, and procedures which enhance Idaho State University.
• To promote an active role for the professional employees in the University governance structure.
• To study and make recommendations concerning the establishing, interpreting, and publicizing of the University's operating policies and procedures affecting professional employees.
• To make recommendations on behalf of professional employees in policy matters pertaining to personal and professional welfare.
• To work in cooperation with the Faculty Senate in formulating joint recommendations to common problems.
• To form committee, as required, to study special and/or continuing problems and report to the Council.
• To recognize and honor professional employees for their services to Idaho State University.

COPE Services

• The COPE Board provides first aid kits for all offices and departments on campus. If your office would like one, contact David Buck, x3111.
• The COPE Board is your resource for Professional Development Scholarships. Download the form above, or contact a COPE Board member for more information.
• COPE annually presents a float in the Homecoming parade.
• COPE works in conjunction with Human Resources on the annual COPE Employee Recognition Luncheon, honoring all professional employees as well as handing out awards for years of service.
• COPE sponsors many wellness activities for professional employees from CPR/AED Training, to supplying first aid kits, to cholesterol screening. If your office needs a first aid kit, contact David Buck at x3111.
• COPE also sponsors workshops and guest speakers throughout the year. All professional employees will be notified of these events via the COPE email listserv.
