College of Business

The Accounting Class Challenge

Help your College raise money for an endowed chair of accounting. Join your accounting class as years 1965-2011 compete to help rally their respective classmates and raise funds for the endowed chair.

The Need

In order to maintain its competitiveness, the College of Business is launching the new Master of Accountancy program in fall 2011.

The Master of Accountancy program provides the best preparation for students to pass the CPA and/or CMA exams. Passage of these prestigious exams is the first step toward a lucrative and fulfilling career in accounting.

For many of our students, the cost of attending a distant university is beyond their financial means. Without this program, many deserving, local students would be unable to achieve their advanced education goals.

The addition of the Master of Accountancy program at a time of drastic cutbacks in state funding for higher education means the program cannot be highly successful without additional resources.

"The College needs this (Master of Accounting) program to stay competitive and the program needs an endowed professorship." - Kregg Aytes, Ph.D., College of Business Dean

The Contest

There will be two prizes. The first for the class that raises the most money (including pledges) and the second for the class with the highest alumni participation level.

The contest runs through the end of July 2012. If you are interested in helping with the campaign or making a donation, please contact Tammy Halstead (Accounting 1985) at thalstead@hotmail.com or (425) 869-1275 or Lisa Burtenshaw, Development Director at burtlisa@isu.edu or (208) 282-6169.
