Hands-On Career Exploration
Roll up your sleeves because this experience is all hands-on. Instructors, professionals and current ISU College of Technology students in various nontraditional careers will demonstrate their trades. What makes an engine work? How do you properly use a hammer? These and many other questions will be answered in this exciting and interactive conference kick-off.
Workshops
Ask for it Everything is negotiable if you now what you really want. Come learn the basic concepts of negotiation and how to apply a four-phase process to achieve personal goals in school, work, and with friends and family. Participants can smile and say "Yes I did," when someone says "You asked for it."
Trades: Electricians, Painters, Pipefitters, and more Want a job with great pay, member benefits, and more? Discover what these trades have to offer and the opportunities available in these nontraditional fields.
Forensics Crime scene investigators and forensic scientists crack some of the toughest criminal cases. Come learn about evidence collection and preservation, laboratory analysis, and see if this nontraditional career is for you.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Technology is revolutionizing banking - how can you make it work for you? Come play the money game and become more savvy about ATM's, debit cards, checking accounts, credit scores, and more.
NT Student Panel - College Get insider information. Learn from women currently in College of Technology STEM-related programs about their fields, programs of study, and what motivated them to pursue a nontraditional (NT) career.
Meet the Keynote Idaho National Laboratory Engineering Technician, Lisa Moore-McAteer, takes the concepts and designs of researchers and engineers, and helps develop them into practical applications. Come learn about her nontraditional occupation and working for the INL, one of Southeast Idaho's largest employers.
Tech Prep Student Panel- High School Wondering about Tech Prep courses? Are you intimidated about pursuing a male-dominated career? Meet your Tech Prep peers; they will tell you about their experience in Tech Prep courses at your school.
