Marlene Darling

Marlene Darling joined the Center for New Directions in 2004 as a Counseling Intern while a student in the Master of Counseling program at ISU. Hired as the Equity Counselor by the Center after graduating with her Masters of Counseling in 2005, she is both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley during the 70's.

Marlene’s specialty is Student Affairs and College Counseling, and she does both personal and career counseling at the Center. Her Equity Counselor duties include managing the nontraditional occupation program services and serving students to help them persist and complete their chosen College of Technology programs, which she finds very rewarding.

Spirituality in counseling is a key interest of hers. She has been a practitioner of Raja Yoga since 1982, which she teaches for the ISU Sport Science and PE Department. Passionate about the West and the Outdoors, Marlene can usually be found outside skiing, hiking, bicycling, or playing tennis when not at work. She also loves to garden, travel, and read non-fiction because “truth is more fascinating than anything we could ever imagine.”
