Judo, translated as, "the way of gentleness," is a martial art and martial sport that focuses primarily on grappling with ones opponent or training partner. Throwing, pinning, chocking, joint locking, and striking to a lesser degree are included in its technical syllabus. ISU Judo is a nationally recognized program with the Olympic governing body for Judo in the United States (USA Judo), and with the National Collegiate Judo Association (NCJA). Our club has been on campus for over 47 years. During the school year we meet regularly in the Dojo.
“If there is efort, there is always accomplishment....It is not important to be better than someone else, nbut to be better than yesterday.” -Jigoro Kano, Judo Founder.
