ISU Brings Metropolitan Opera District Auditions to Pocatello
The School of Performing Arts at Idaho State University is honored to host the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the Northwest District on Saturday, October 29 in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. This is the first time a music competition of this magnitude has been hosted at ISU. (read more...)

English Professor, Jennifer Attebery, to Deliver the 2001 Ander Immigration History Lecture
Jennifer Eastman Attebery, Professor of English and Director of the Folklore Program at Idaho State University, has been invited to deliver the 2011 Ander Immigration History Lecture at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, on October 15. Attebery’s lecture, “Blending Celebrations in the Rockies: How Midsummer Became American and Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Pioneer Day Became Swedish,” will focus on ways in which immigrants to the West used holiday celebrations to shape and blended ethnic- national- regional identity. Research Article by Political Science Professors McBeth and Lybecker Wins Award
“The Story of Good Citizenship: Framing Public Policy in the Context of Duty-Based versus Engaged Citizenship,” co-authored by Dr. Mark McBeth, Professor of Political Science; Dr. Donna Lybecker, Associate Professor of Political Science; and Kacee Garner, Doctor of Arts graduate student in Political Science was named the Best Article published in Politics & Policy in 2010. Dance Faculty, Joséphine Garibaldi, Receives International Recognition
Joséphine A. Garibaldi, Assistant Professor and Director of Dance, traveled in May 2011, to Assisi, Italy, where she served as an Artist in Residence at Arte Studio Ginestrelle for three weeks. As an Artist in Residence, she directed physical theatre workshops and created new site-specific performances. She was assisted by her husband, Paul Zmolek, who is a dance instructor at ISU. ROTC Students Earn Training Honors at Fort Lewis
Army ROTC offers young people a world-class opportunity to Start Strong. One of the requirements of the program is completion of the Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC). This 29-day course includes individual training and leads to collective training, building from simple to complex tasks.(read more...)
