Message Title: INCREASE IN POSTAGE RATES

On Monday, February 11, 2008, the United States Postal Service announced that they will be raising the prices of postage and special services on May 12, 2008. They are providing the 90 day notice required under the new Postal Reorganization law. The average increase is at or below the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index. A one ounce 1st Class Mail stamp will cost 42 cents. The "Forever Stamp" is available only in books of 20 which are available for $8.20 till May 12 when they will increase to $8.40 per book.

The shape based pricing instituted for domestic mail in the last price increase will now be applied to international mail. There will be an International 1st Class Letter rate, a 1st Class Large Envelope rate and a 1st Class Small Packet rate. International letters to Canada and Mexico will start at 72 cents and all other International letters will start at 94 cents.

If you have any questions about the new rates please contact the Campus Mail Center at 3685.
