Message Title: 'Celebrate Idaho State': Sign up for March 19 extravaganza now!

It’s time again to “Celebrate Idaho State!” The 3rd Annual CommUniversity Event hosted by ISU is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Building.

With the ongoing planning and support of the CommUniversity Committee,ISU’s Colleges, Departments, Units, and Organizations are being asked to participate by showcasing their outstanding programs, faculty, and students.

An exciting feature of this year’s event will be the “Science and Engineering Festival.” Rather than holding their annual event separately, the College of Science & Engineering is partnering with “Celebrate Idaho State.” And we’ll be working with the College of Technology as well in promoting their “Tech Expo” and “Chrome in the Dome” that are scheduled later in the week.

Once again we are planning an exciting event with activities, entertainment, tours, exhibits and free food. We’ll advertise and promote it to attract businesses, organizations, families, and especially high school students (this will be a great recruiting opportunity).

The Mayors’ Youth Council is participating again this year. We want the community to feel comfortable and welcome on campus and to create an atmosphere of unity and pride with CommUniversity!

We hope you’ll begin now to plan how your organization can participate. The deadline for registration is Feb. 15. To register for the event, contact Valerie Davids, Student Activities Coordinator, at davivale@isu.edu. If you have questions, contacts include Valorie Watkins, 238-1278; Laura Woodworth-Ney, 282-4024; or Andy Taylor, 282-3209.

The CommUniversity Event Committee was established three years ago to help create a stronger bond and improve relationships between “town and gown.” Two events were planned: “Welcome Back Orange and Black” which is held in Old Town Pocatello at the start of school to welcome ISU and show what the local area has to offer; and the second event is “Celebrate Idaho State!” which is hosted by ISU to welcome the community to campus and to showcase the University.
