Education:
Educational Specialist: Educational Administration, Idaho State University, 2009
Master of Education: Educational Administration, Idaho State University, 2002
Bachelor of Science: Biology, Idaho State University, 1997
Profession:
As an educator, I have worked at all three levels of K-12 education, having taught multiple years at a
senior high and a junior high school. After completing my K-12 administration degree, I began my career
as an elementary assistant principal. As an elementary principal and now as middle school principal, I
have demonstrated "turnaround" instructional leadership. The elementary school I led met all Adequate
Yearly Progress (AYP) goals for two consecutive years and was removed from needs-improvement
status. During my first year as principal, Robert Stuart Middle School met all AYP goals for the first time
in five years and earned "New School" status removing its needs-improvement status. I have finished
my Educational Specialist degree and I am working on my doctoral degree. I hope to have a district-level
instructional leadership position in the future.
Interests/Hobbies:
I love spending time with my family and having fun. We enjoy the outdoors, sports and exercise, and travel. I love
inspiring youth to be all they can be. I am involved with youth outside of school as a scout master, congressional award
advisor, and AAU Basketball Coach.
Latest Accomplishment:
I was very proud to have my school and myself recognized as a Governor's Brightest Star in 2011. My school was
recognized for all we do to give back to the community and other worthy causes. I was recognized for all the hours I spend
above and beyond helping to develop youth. More importantly I think my latest and greatest accomplishment is my daily
passion for being an instructional leader who strives to inspire teachers to continually improve teaching and learning. The
greatness of our school primarily consists of great teachers doing great teaching every class period of every school day.
The result of this is students reaching high levels of growth in learning. This has been made possible by the collective
commitment of our staff members, parents and students.
Why I Do What I Do:
I do what I do for the kids I serve. Kids are our future. It gives me great joy to witness growth in individual students. I
have a burning passion to give every student equitable opportunity and support that they may each realize their potential
and greatness within.
Words of Wisdom:
What we become while pursuing our goals is far greater than what we get when finally achieving our goals. Enjoy the
journey!
ISU Recollection:
As an undergrad, I remember sitting down on the grassy hillside behind McIntosh Manor beside my wife to watch my son
play. As I looked down, I realized that I had just found a four-leaf clover in the grass. I thought to myself: Wow! How
lucky am I to be at ISU with my family receiving a quality education!
ISU Experience:
I have many fond memories as an undergrad while attending ISU on campus. I feel most fortunate to have been able to
earn two additional degrees through ISU at Twin Falls. I rarely had to leave Twin Falls four any of my coursework. All the
ladies at the ISU extension Center in Twin Falls have been an amazing support throughout the years. I couldn't have done
it without them. I have been well prepared by my ISU professors to be successful in my chosen field.
