HIV Education Program

In partnership with the University of Washington/Northwest Aids Education and Training Center (NW AETC), Idaho State University is pleased to be providing medical training for physicians and other health care practitioners in Idaho's rural clinics.

Grant funding allows physician educators to advance the HIV/AIDS knowledge base of rural practitioners in the areas of: risk assessment, diagnosis of primary infection, medication management, advances in care and appropriate referral to specialty clinics. Community needs assessments are used to evaluate the focus of the presentations and demographic studies assist in the identification of areas of Idaho that are realizing the greater numbers of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV transmissions.

The overall focus of the program is to advance the care and coordination of services for individuals with HIV diagnoses. Through the partnership, resources are coordinated to assist medical personnel in achieving that goal.
