The
diversity of ecosystems
and landforms within the Portneuf watershed provides a wealth of
opportunities for ecological and geological research. The Portneuf
river, its
tributaries, and its closely-linked aquifer provide wonderful
opportunities for
hydrological studies. The shape of the lower Portneuf valley, local
wind patterns, and urban and industrial development have contributed to
the
need for studies of air quality. Past, ongoing, and future research
will help us
understand how we can live in this special place and maintain its
beauty and ecological integrity for future generations.
Many individuals, private organizations, and
city, state, and federal agencies have contributed to the research
efforts in our watershed. Use the menu above to access information on a
few of the projects that
have been
done in this area. We also provide a list of publications,
reports, and theses that describe research that has been done
within the watershed.
