Dr. St. Hilaire has created an Excel-based program for risk assessment for the spread of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) and disinfection recommendations. For the 2007 version click here. If you prefer the older (1997) version, click here.

Biographical Sketch

Dr. St-Hilaire received her veterinary degree from the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1994. She then completed her MSc and PhD in veterinary epidemiology at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Guelph, respectively. Since 1994 she has been involved in a number of disease outbreak investigations ranging from viral to parasitic in origin in both wild and farmed animal populations. She has also been actively involved in developing a number of surveillance programs for monitoring pathogens and assessing disease control strategies. She has conducted several field research projects to study disease in natural populations. She is particularly interested in aquatic animal and avian diseases.

She is currently involved in the following research projects: 1) Investigating the use of black soldier fly larvae as a tool for managing animal waste and providing a food source for aquaculture industries; 2) Investigating the cause and prevention strategies for strawberry disease in rainbow trout; 3) Investigating the pathogenesis of different strains of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis found in boreal toad (Bufo boreas boreas) populations in Wyoming; 4) evaluating the effect of multiple parasites in juvenile coho salmon in Oregon; 5) assessing the trends in turberculosis in Southeast Idaho; and 6) evaluating a screening program for COPD at the VA hospital in Boise.
