Review of major status codes:

  1. "P" = Pre-Major - set by students when they apply to ISU. Students may change their major status on the MyISU student web portal, however their major status will default to "P" regardless of what the status was previously.

  2. "I" = Intent to Major - set by the major department when a student makes personal contact with a department and files an Intent to Major. Students must file an Intent to Major prior to reaching 58 credits. Students with 58 or more credits and the major status of "P" will be blocked from registration.

  3. "A" = Admitted to Major - set by the major department when the student has met the requirements for full admission into a program or major.

Students who change their major on the MyISU portal will be reassigned a "P" regardless of what their major status was previously.

Departments that do not have formal Admission Requirements may make use of either the "I" or "A" major status.
