Administration of COMPASS Placement tests.

  1. A $5.00 fee will be charged for each section of the COMPASS test. An additional $5.00 fee will be charged per section for any retakes of the COMPASS test.

  2. English & Math Placement Chart

  3. Students wishing to take the COMPASS should telephone ahead to schedule a testing time.

  4. Students must wait a minimum of one day to retake the same section of a COMPASS TEST.
  5. A PHOTO ID is required in order to take a COMPASS test.
  6. Plan approximately 45 minutes to complete each test section.
  7. There is no limit to the number of times a student can re-test.
  8. The student should always be provided a paper copy of the their COMPASS test.

COMPASS Information for Outreach Centers

  1. The COMPASS is also administered at the outreach centers in American Falls, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Malad, Montpelier, Preston, Soda Springs, and Twin Falls. For those located in a rural area or out-of-state, there are options available. Contact Student Services at (208) 282-2622 for specific information.

  2. All tests taken at outreach centers should be faxed to the ISU College of Technology Student Services office at (208) 282-5195. Student Services will enter COMPASS scores for Academic and College of Technology students. Copies will be faxed daily after a student completes the test.

  3. Scores can be entered into the computer system before or after a student has been accepted for admission to ISU.
