Fall 2009 Semester - Change in Fee Payment Processes

In seeking ways to minimize the impact the economic downturn and related belt tightening has had on its students, Idaho State University is changing the requirements for students to be able to hold a seat in a class they are registered for.

In the past, instructors and departments have frequently been uncertain as to the viability of a class and the need for new sections due to seats being taken by students who end up not attending the class. Students trying to get into a particular section or course must then go through a laborious process where instructors and/or departments sign add cards to fill seats occupied by those not attending. Since disenrollment of students that have not paid the fees for the class has not been taking place until Friday of the third week of class, the old registration process, instead of enabling students to sign up for empty seats, leaves them unoccupied until it is generally too late in the term to successfully add them. With a very late disenrollment, and no late fee until after the first day of classes, students often waited until the afternoon of the first day of class to finalize fee payment.

Accordingly, ISU has changed the due dates for full payment of fees to enable students who have paid fees to get into classes and sections that are full. The new registration and payment schedules are as follows:
