ISU Young Alumni Award
Overview
The Young Alumni Award was established in 2012 to recognize and honor alumni of the last decade (out of school up to 10 years) for the exceptional achievement in their career, public service and/or volunteerism that brings honor to the University. Many young ISU alums are excelling in their field of endeavor and this award was created to acknowledge their accomplishments in such a short time period.
About the Award
This award also recognizes considerable loyalty to the University, service above and beyond the call of duty, exceptional volunteerism and financial support for the University.
One candidate is selected annually and recognized with other award recipients at the President’s Alumni Recognition Dinner at Homecoming. Nominations are solicited from all areas of the University and are to be sent to the Office of Alumni Relations. Decisions are made by the University’s Standing Awards Committee which is made up of the following personnel:
- Alumni Association Board of Directors member – serves for four-year term
- Development Officer – serves for four-year term
- ISU Family (faculty, staff, emeriti or retired) – serves for four-year term
- Vice President of University Advancement – ex-officio (voting member)
- Office of the President – ex-officio (voting member)
- Director of ISU Foundation– ex-officio (voting member)
- Director of Alumni Relations – ex-officio (voting member)
Qualifications
Materials reviewed by the University’s Standing Awards Committee includes:
- A completed nomination form
- Letters of support (One may be from the person making the nomination)
- A current resume for the candidate
- Newspaper articles or publications
- Other pieces that speak to the candidate’s qualifications
Criteria includes:
- Professional achievement or significant accomplishment in a given field.
- Industry awards and special recognitions received.
- Civic and community involvement, advancing causes of higher education or ISU.
- Demonstrated loyalty to the University, its Colleges, programs or other elements.
- Notable contributions to the University’s advancement.
- Individuals who have been a part of historic moments in University history.
- Other criteria as appropriately devised by the committee and based on award descriptions.
