Lori (Heeter) Thomas, Volleyball and Basketball, 1989-92

Lori (Heeter) Thomas was a two-sport athlete at Idaho State, lettering in both volleyball and basketball from 1989-92. Thomas excelled both offensively and defensively in volleyball. She currently holds the all-time ISU career record for attack percentage at .310 and single-season attack percentage record at .371. She ranks sixth, seventh, and eighth in single match attack percentage. Thomas was named the Big Sky Conference’s Volleyball Newcomer of the Year in 1989 and was also named First Team All-Big Sky Conference in 1990. She received AVCA All Northwest Region honors in 1990. She also was named to the Big Sky All-Academic team in 1990. Thomas led the Bengals to a 45-10 record over her two years of service, including a Big Sky title in 1990 and trip to the NCAA Tournament. Thomas also was a key member of ISU’s basketball teams from 1991-92. Her 71 blocks during the one season she spent with the Bengals ranks second for a single season all-time in ISU history. The mark also ranks her seventh on the all-time career blocks list. She tallied an ISU alltime record 10 blocks in a single game against Montana State. Thomas currently resides in Overland Park, Kansas, where she is the director of human resources and championship event administrator at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). She graduated from ISU in 1992 with a degree in business administration.
